A WordPress theme rebuilt as a phpBB style
A magazine's WordPress design turned into a phpBB3 style, delivered as an installable style package the client could put on the board themselves.
The objective
The publisher had an established WordPress site and wanted their forum to look like part of it, not like a default phpBB install.
The forum content had to sit in the middle column where the site's own content sits, so the surrounding layout had to be reproduced around phpBB's output.
The deliverable was specific. They wanted a style package in the same shape as prosilver, one they could unzip into their styles folder and install without me touching their server.
What I did
I rebuilt the WordPress design as a phpBB style rather than embedding phpBB inside a WordPress page, so the board stayed a normal phpBB install.
I worked through phpBB's template files so the site header, footer and column layout wrap around the forum output.
Then I packaged it as an installable style and tested it against a clean install.
The result
The forum matched the magazine it belonged to, and the client installed the style themselves from the zip.
“He did a good job in a timely manner.”
