Four years of hosting work for a web agency

Forty-eight orders between 2021 and 2025 for one agency: certificate installs, moves between hosting accounts, server setup, and whatever else broke on the sites they host for their own customers.

The objective

The client is an agency that builds sites and hosts them for its customers. They have nobody on staff below the WordPress admin screen, so anything at the server level comes to me: a certificate that stopped renewing, a site that has to be on a different hosting account by tomorrow, a new server that needs building.

The work arrives as short jobs with no notice, sometimes several in a week, and the site is usually live while it's being moved. What the arrangement needs is someone reachable who finishes the same day, not one big piece of work.

What I did

I installed and reinstalled TLS certificates, including wildcard Let's Encrypt certificates covering a set of subdomains.

I moved sites between cPanel accounts on different servers, including the moves where the domain still pointed at the old host, so the site had to be fully configured before the nameservers changed rather than after.

I set up hosting accounts and cloud servers for their new customer sites.

I worked through the ordinary faults on the sites they host: failed updates, malware, mail that stopped sending.

And I said when a request didn't match what was actually wanted. On one move the site got installed where the instructions pointed, which wasn't the domain the client meant, and we sorted it out in the same session.

The result

Forty-eight completed orders across four years, the most recent in November 2025. One of the earlier ones moved more than twenty sites at the same time.
