Adding a Dutch-language forum to a WordPress site

I put a phpBB board in Dutch alongside a client's existing WordPress site and styled it to their branding, so it reads as part of the site rather than software bolted on beside it.

The objective

The client already had a WordPress site and wanted a forum on it. Two conditions came with that: it had to be in Dutch, and it had to look like the rest of the site instead of a separate piece of software parked next to it.

So the Dutch language pack had to cover the interface properly, and the board styling had to carry the site's branding and logo.

What I did

I installed phpBB alongside the WordPress site and set it up in Dutch.

Then I applied the client's branding and logo to the board style and wired it into the site, so visitors move between the forum and the rest of the pages without feeling like they've crossed onto a different website.

The result

The forum runs as part of the site now, in the language its members actually use.
