Each one is a full write-up of what the client needed, what I did and how it turned out. These are selected projects, not a complete list. Repeat work of the same kind is written up once rather than every time.
A site that broke every morning
A small business site went down most mornings, and the owner had been bringing it back by re-uploading one file. The real cause was the hosting company overwriting that file every night.
A maths forum with broken encoding and missing formulas
A Romanian mathematics forum came out of a server move with corrupted characters and no formula rendering. I repaired it, upgraded it from phpBB 2.0.22, and kept it on the same URLs.
A PHP REST API put on AWS, then moved to serverless
I stood a PHP REST API up on an AWS virtual server, then migrated the same API to a serverless setup with a managed database behind it.
A 403 that wasn't coming from the server
Saving a page in the site builder returned a 403 and refused to write. The server wasn't the one producing it, and proving that meant getting a request past both the CDN and the load balancer sitting in front of it.
A forum moved from PHP 5.2 to PHP 8.4
After the client switched hosting companies, their board was still stuck on PHP 5.2 and needed to run on a current version of PHP. A login bug that had been hanging around for a while came along with it.
Three sites and their mail moved between hosts overnight
Two association sites, a community subdomain, and a set of subdomains that only redirect, moved to a new host with the DNS switched over in the middle of the night and the mail pointed at Google.
